January Technique Class Review

I just wanted to share the fruits of our labor for January!  As you know, we used those wonderful sweet treat cups.  We used the circle ones, but don't forget, for a limited time, Stampin' Up! TM is offering these cups in a heart shape, perfect for Valentines!

For this project you will need:
  • Cardstock:  Real Red, Very Vanilla, and Soft Suede
  • Stamps:  Teeny Tiny Phrases, I {Love} Love Wheel, Love You Much (optional)
  • Inks:  Soft Suede, Real Red, and Chocolate Chip
  • Tools:  1 3/4" Circle Punch or Circle Scissor Plus, Small Heart Punch, Heart to Heart Punch (optional)
  • Accessories:  Sweet Treat Cups, 1/2" Library Clips
Using an approach similar to previous projects (follow the link for photos and further explanation), our candy hole is cut through multiple layers of card stock; the Very Vanilla and Soft Suede squares and then the card front.  The sweet treat cup "bubble" goes through the hole in your Very Vanilla and adheres to your Soft Suede, basically making a sandwich.  Then, by placing sticky strip on only three sides (bottom, left and right) of the soft suede, you create a pocket.  Then, using a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, you have a little door that slides into the pocket you created.  You can decorate your door with stamps, heart punches, etc.  I used a heart punched in Real Red using the Small Heart Punch.  You could also use Love You Much or other stamp sets to decorate.  This will be seen once someone eats up all the candy.  Prior to cutting the hole in my Very Vanilla, I brushed the edges of my square with Real Red ink.

For the second square, I used the I {Love} Love wheel and inked just one section with Soft Suede In-Color Marker and rolled on my Very Vanilla.  I also brushed the edges with Real Red.  I adhered this to my card front in the opposite corner.  In the other two corners, I mounted some hearts cut from Soft Suede using the Small Heart Punch.  I stamped the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Decorate the inside of the card using hearts punched with the Heart to Heart Punch and Love You Much stamp set.

For all the attendees in my class, I also made a goodie bag.  For those who RSVP'd in advance, I had monogramed bags available for them filled with yummy Valentine candies.  Just a little something special for my class attendees, some encouragement for the rest of you to consider joining us next time.  These bags were created using the Fancy Favor Die Cut for the Big Shot.  I punched hearts with the Heart to Heart Punch or Small Heart Punch to use as embellishments on the bags.  I also stamped the bags with a variety of current heart punches including ones from The More the Merrier and I {Love} Love.

And, as a reminder, it is Sale-A-Bration, the time of year when you earn free merchandise just for purchasing product and even more merchandise for hosting a show.  Did you like this project?  Consider hostsing a show where you and your guests can make a similar project.  As a hostess, you will be eligible for the typical  hostess benefits listed on page 11 of the Idea Book and Catalog in addition to Sale-A-Bration Merchandise for all shows with $300 or more in sales.  During Sale-A-Bration, you only need 6 guests ordering $50 each to achieve a $300 show.  Since everyone wants to take home free merchandise, it takes very little effort to get 6 guests to spend $50.  Contact me today to book your show!  Act fast, my calendar will fill up quickly and Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31, 2009.

Ready, Set, Sale-A-Brate!

It's January 5th and do you know what that means? SALE-A-BRATION IS HERE! A stampers favorite time of the year. At least it is this stampers favorite stampin time of the year! It is also the debut of the New Occasions Mini Catalog, a new insert for Definitely Decorative, and a new promotion featuring heart shaped sweet treat cups. What a wonderful day for stampers!

First, new Occasions Mini Catalog. As with the previous Holiday Catalog, two additional hostess sets are offered for Level 1 and Level 2. Stampin' Up! TM will also offer their new Clear Mount Stamp Blocks and all stamp sets in this mini will be offered in either as wood mounted or unmounted. This is great for those of us who are running low on storage but high on desire for more stamps. :) There has also been a change to the punch design. The new punches feature slimmer design and a locking feature which will make storage easier. There is also a Designer Series Paper Stack Pack- 48 sheets of 24 double sided 12x12 sheets which coordinate with the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt. There is also a new Big Shot Die- milk cartons. These will be perfect for Easter treats. I know I'll be getting this die and filling it with my favorite Easter candy- Robin's Eggs. YUM! There is also a cute Egg Decorating Kit. At $9.95, I plan to order this for the kids this year. They love to decorate eggs and all you have to add to this kit is some egg dye and the eggs. They've also added some Mini On Board Sizzlits Dies for Valentines and Easter. FUN! You won't be disappointed in this Mini!

And many of your new favorites will remain- all the Build A Bear Dies and stamps from the Holiday mini, the Sweet Treat Cups and My Digital Studio have been carried over. Also, the shimmer paints will be available as a write in.

For those of you on my mailing list, I've opted to hand deliver your mini this season. Many of you received your Holiday Mini late so I'm going to personally deliver them the first week of January. If you haven't received one from me (or one dutifully dropped off by my wonderful husband), please email me so we can arrange a drop off. You can also view it online by visiting my website or following the links in the sidebar. Check out your Occasions Mini Catalog and find your favorite stamp set. I bet you can guess my favorite set. I'll give you a hint, Tessa considers it her favorite as well.

Stampin' Up! is also adding an insert to the current Definitely Decorative Catalog. My favorite new item- Chalkboard Vinyls! WOW! I'm looking forward to adding a few items to my walls here at home.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Stampin' Up! will be offering the Sweet Treat Cups in a heart shape along with a Sweetheart coordinating stamp set. These cups coordinate with the Full Heart Punch. The sweet treat cups will only be $2.95 per package and each package will contain 12 cups. The stamp set will be available mounted ($21.95) and unmounted ($15.95). They work the same way as the circle version of the cups.

Now, for everyone's favorite- The Sale-A-Bration Catalog! Most of you are already familiar with Sale-A-Bration, but just in case you may have forgotten or are new here, I'll go over the details.
The Sale-A-Bration catalog offers 6 different products that you can earn for FREE! Products include 4 stamp sets, 1 paper stack and a punch. You can earn 1, 2, ... or ALL items depending on what you do between January 5 - March 31, 2010. And, if you are like some of my regulars, you may end up earning all products before Sale-A-Bration is over. If that is the case or if you don't want any of the Sale-A-Bration items, you can also select from a list of stamp sets available in the current Idea Book and Catalog.
Here is how you earn free Sale-A-Bration Items.
  1. SPEND: For every $50 (before tax and shipping) you spend, you earn a free Sale-A-Bration item. Spend $100, you earn 2 items, $150, three items... You get the picture.
  2. HOST: Host a workshop of at least $300 (before tax and shipping) and you earn one free Sale-A-Bration item in addition to the normal hostess benefits (hostess set and free merchandise). Have a $600 show and you will receive 2 Sale-A-Bration items. This is a perfect time to host a show. Sale-A-Bration generates sales because all your guests want to earn free merchandise as well and will tend to spend more. Plus, you host a show and I do all the work. I'll send the evites for you, prep the make & takes, and bring a plate of goodies to share with your guests. You barely have to lift a finger!
  3. JOIN: Join my team during Sale-A-Bration and you will be able to choose a FREE stamp set from the current Idea Book and Catalog that is valued at up to $47.95.

Sale-A-Bration is here for a short time. Don't miss these great deals and benefits. Even if you don't have a stamp set on your list, it is the perfect time to stock up on paper, adhesives, and other miscellaneous supplies while earning free stuff.

Also, if your significant other needs some ideas for Valentine's Day, why not create a wish list? Send me your wish list (including the Sale-A-Bration must haves) and let your significant other know that I have the perfect gift idea for you. I'll place the order, have it shipped to my home, wrap it and include a handmade card. All they have to do is provide the payment and sign the card. Viola, Valentine's Day without the last minute card hunt and dash to the florist. And, even if they wait until the last minute, I'll package your surprise in such a clever way, you won't mind waiting for the real thing to arrive.

Place an order, book a show and then sit back and wait for your FREE items to arrive!

God Bless and Happy Stampin!

Ready, Set, Snow!

I got a little caught up in making snow themed cards. This is a pretty simple card and features a few products currently available at reduced prices during the Online Extravaganza- the scallop edge punch and the "ready, set, snow!" stamp from the Best Wishes and More stamp set.

The Recipe:
Card Stock-
  • Real Red
  • Garden Green

Designer Series Paper-

  • Merry Moments

Stamps-

  • Best Wishes and More
  • Season of Friendship

Accessories-

  • Scallop Edge Punch
  • Shimmer White Paint

Ink-

  • Chocolate Chip

The only real trick to this card is lining up the scallops when punching. I just picked one spot on the guide and started my paper in that location for each side. When stamping with the shimmer paint, it works best to use a paint brush to apply the paint.

Email with questions!

Think Snow

As promised, another card featuring products available during the Online Extravaganza sale. This card features the birds from the Love You Much stamp set which is included in the Heart to Heart Bundle. This bundle is available for $24.93 and also includes the Heart to Heart punch and Pretty in Pink 1/2 " grosgrain ribbon.
For this card, I decided to experiment with some non-traditional card sizes and made a 6x6 inch card using Brilliant Blue card stock. I cut a Top Note using the Big Shot and Merry Moments Designer Series Paper. I cut the top note in half and mounted to a piece of Whisper White card stock.
I used white shimmer paint and the snowflake from Season of Friendship to stamp snowflakes in the background. I then stamped the birds from Love You Much using Soft Suede (note, I did not add any ink to the heart in this stamp). I used my watercolor pencils to color my birds. Above the birds I used the Season of Friendship snowflake and Brilliant Blue to stamp a single snowflake just above their heads. I stamped the "ready, set, snow!" sentiment in the bottom right corner. This sentiment stamp is from the Best Wishes and More stamp set (also part of the Ultimate Stampin' Starter Bundle).
There is still time to take advantage of the Online Extravaganza. It ends November 30th so act quickly!
God Bless and Happy Stampin!

Black Friday in Your Jammies!

Forget standing in line for the Black Friday deals, stay in your comfy jammies and head to your computer for the Stampin' Up!™ Online Holiday Sale! Until November 30th, you can get incredible savings on some of our favorite Stampin' Up!™ products. Stampin' Up!™ has bundled several of these products together, including the Ultimate Stampers Bundle which includes:
  • Best Wishes & More stamp set
  • Eight Great Greetings stamp set
  • On a Pedestal stamp set
  • Earth Elements Stampin' Spots Classic
  • Earth Elements assorted card stock (8-1/2" x 11")
  • Whisper White card stock (8-1/2" x 11")
  • Old Olive 1/2" striped grosgrain ribbon
  • Flower Designer brads
This bundle is on sale for $76.62, a 40% savings over the price if you purchased all these items separately. This bundle is only available while supplies last so if you think you might want this one, move quickly.

For some inspiration, I'll share some cards I made using items from the Ultimate Stampers' Bundle. The first card is one I made for my sister's birthday. I used the Best Wishes and More Stamp Set. This is really a great starter set so I'm not at all surprised to see that Stampin' Up! included it in an Ultimate Stampers' Bundle. This is one of the most versatile stamp sets I own. The stamp set includes a snowflake flower, leaf, heart, and bird. It also includes several generic phrases which work year round.

For papers, I used Cameo Coral, Garden Green and Whisper White card stocks. I've also snuck in some retired Designer Series Paper in the background, but you could just as easily substitute your own favorites. I just happened to have this with me here while visiting in laws. It snuck in between my card stock. I stamped the images using Melon Mambo, Glorious Green, and Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin' Pads.

You'll also see at the bottom, I used the scallop edge punch. This punch is also available during the Online sale for $11.17, a 30% savings.

For some additional inspiration using the Best Wishes and More Stamp Set, here are some previous projects I've shared. You can find the recipe by clicking on the captions below each photo:

Another Pass at Wings of Friendship

I wanted to take another crack at a card using the Wings of Friendship Level 2 Hostess Set, especially since the upcoming Hostess specials for September are FABULOUS! I'll get to that in a minute, first the card...

Similar to the previous card, I used Bashful Blue and Very Vanilla Cardstock. I also sent some Kraft card stock through the Big Shot to emboss with Stampin' Up!™ Backgrounds 1 Texture Plates. I used Old Olive and Regal Rose Stampin' Write Markers for the bird and her branch. I also used the Regal Rose for the flower as well. I stamped all the images onto Very Vanilla card stock and then cut them out. The sentiment was stamped using the Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad.

For the ribbon, I cut a small slit in the fold of the card so that I could pass the ribbon through the card to the inside to adhere it to the card. I tied small pieces of natural hemp twine around the Brocade Blue grosgrain ribbon to gather it at a few key sections. It just adds a bit of fun texture.

So, how many of you scrolled down past the card instructions to get to the news about the upcoming hostess special?

Most of you will soon be receiving your Holiday Mini. It will also be available for viewing online online at http://www.charityl.stampinup.net/. Now that we've transitioned back to one catalog per year, each of the mini catalogs will include additional hostess sets which you can earn. Also starting in September, every hostess is eligible for the following great deal:

Host a workshop totaling $250 or more and choose any one item from the 2009 Holiday Mini Catalog for only $10! This offer excludes hostess sets (you earn those for free) and My Digital Studio but includes all stamp other stamp sets, Sizzix dies, accessories, papers, etc. Yes, I said this promotion includes Sizzix dies that will be available in the new Holiday Mini, and the new dies are really fun! To be eligible, it must be a "workshop" order. This means you need to either host a workshop in your home or pass the catalog around for a catalog show. This promotion will begin in September and go through November. It's soccer season so I only have a limited number of show dates available so book your fall workshop early so you can take advantage of this wonderful promotion!

Projects from Mini Convention

On Sunday, I went to a Mini-Convention for all of us demonstrators who were unable to attend the Stampin' Up!™ convention in Salt Lake City. It was a great time and we got to make three wonderful projects. I always enjoy myself when I stamp and I especially enjoy myself when I'm stamping with other like minded ladies.

We did three Make & Takes, all using the Big Shot. Project #1 used the Stampin' Up! Bitty Box and Envelope Die. This die is really fun. It makes the cutest little box, it's like a mini pizza box. Another great die for easy party favors and simple handmade gifts. To go along with this box, we made three corresponding note cards using Cottage Wall Designer Series paper (and corresponding cardstock) and the Lovely Letters Alphabet stamp set. The note cards fit into the cute little envelopes we cut using the same die for the box. I think this project is perfect for teacher's gifts and party favors.

For project #2, snow was in the forecast. We made a great 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch scrapbook page perfect for winter weather photos. For this project, we used the new printed window sheets, Snowfall, and shimmer paint that will be available in the upcoming holiday mini. If you'd like a copy of the holiday mini, email me and I'll get one sent out to you when they are available later this month. These cute window sheets and shimmer paint are just the tip of the iceberg for this holiday mini, so don't miss your chance to see some of these items. Items in the holiday mini will be available to order on September 1. We also used the new snowflake punch currently available in the Idea Book and Catalog. Are you wondering where the Big Shot came in on this project? Think "snow." We used the Stampin' Up! Alphabet Simple Letters die to cut out the letters for the word snow on the bottom of the page. Our reindeer friend is Dasher from the current Idea Book and Catalog.
This scrapbook page features "non-traditional" colors for winter, but it works really well and is a nice departure from the typical winter colors.
Our third and final Make & Take was another box using the Big Shot. Using Nouveau Chic designer series paper we cut out a matchbox with the Stampin' Up! Matchbox die. We also made a corresponding tag using the same die and Great Friend stamp set.

If you like any of these projects, consider hosting a show. All hostesses are eligible to receive free merchandise and they always get a little something extra from me. Or, if you like the idea of joining a bunch of like minded folks to spend the afternoon making some great stamping projects and sharing some great and wonderful food, consider signing up to become a demonstrator. Until August 31st, you can sign up to become a demonstrator for only $85. For $85 you get a mini starter kit. A perfect way to start your business whether you already have lots of supplies or just want to get a taste of Stampin' Up! before you dive in. Email me if you want to know more about becoming a demonstrator or hosting a show.
