Playful Polka Dots

I wanted to share our project from my last class- a mini scrapbook album using badge holders and the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit.

The instructions for the album can be found in the resource section of SplitCoast Stampers.

You will need to buy the plastic badge holders that are designed to work with a lanyard. You could easily make 5 or more mini scrapbooks with one Simply Scrappin' kit. I chose to use some scrap paper in the same colors as the kit, saving the 12x12 cardstock for a layer time. I also added some Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, and Basic Gray as accents on pages to allow for both journalling and one spread that was more masculine for pictures of my son. I made use of the accent stickers in the kit.

I cut my cardstock to size, about 3x4 inches for these badge holders. I decided to decorate both sides and will be adding photos later. I plan to have one spread per child with journaling facing the photos.

Now for the finished product:

Liam's Preschool Graduation

I've resorted to blogging from the sidelines of a soccer field as I wait for Phoebe's game to start. Thank goodness for smartphones!

Liam graduated from Preschool at the end of May so I had a great excuse to buy the Recess stamp set, and the School Colors and Elementary Alphabet Wheels. I never really need an excuse to buy stamps but it does feel better when I do!

I used the criss cross card technique from the Split Coast Stampers resource area. The instructions are pretty easy to follow. For supplies, you'll need: the stamp sets mentioned above, Real Red card stock, Daffodil Delight card stock, Very Vanilla card stock, Black Stazon, watercolor paper, Basic Black card stock, red embroidery floss, Dimensionals, Real Red ink, Round Tab Punch, and Stampin Write Markers.

For Liam's invitations, I used the jump roping boy from the Recess stamp set and inked only the boy, leaving out most of the jump rope. I wanted him to look like he had just thrown his cap in the air while jumping up. The cap is just a square piece of cardstock with a tassel in the middle.

For the inside, I used MDS to print my information onto the Very Vanilla card stock. I used the School Colors wheel along the bottom. Then I layered the pieces and added the tab.

Now, back to soccer!

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

May has been a busy month!  I have a bit of a backlog of projects to share with all of you and I thought I'd start with the teacher appreciation gifts our PTA did for our school.  We had a whole week of goodies planned for the teachers and staff of the school.  This year, I was in charge of making tags for the personalized cookies that each teacher would get on day 1.

To create this cute little tag, you will need the following supplies:
  • Daffodil Delight Card Stock
  • Real Red Card Stock
  • Whisper White Card Stock
  • Full of Life Stamp Set
  • Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set
  • Celebrate Designer Series Paper (Last Chance Item!)
  • 3/16" Corner Punch
  • Round Tab Punch
  • Spiral Border Punch (Last Chance Item!)
  • Basic Black Ink
  • Beary Bright Sizzlit Die
  • Crop-A-Dile
The design is pretty simple, cutting paper to size, adhering the layers and rounding the corners.  Nothing too special but they are very cute and made the perfect tags for the wonderful cookies that another mom made.

This was a great way to start off Teacher Appreciation Week and I heard that the staff oohed and ahed over the cookies and the tags.  The cookies alone would have been great, but the tags were a fun addition and I was so glad to be part of it.

The Celebrate DSP and Spiral Border Punch are both on the Last Chance List, so if you like either one of these items now is the time to purchase them.  I've really been enjoying the Celebrate DSP in recent weeks.  I used it for these great tags and I also used them for Liam's preschool invitations which I'll be sharing in a future post.

There's still time to get these items or even host a show.  Contact me today for more information!
