Spooky Halloween

The wind is howling here in Western Washington- the first big fall storm.  Fall is officially here!  We've had a busy fall already (as I'm sure you've seen with my lack of posts in October).  I've been busy with projects and recently attended Fall Stampin' Up! Regionals, where I actually got to present a project on stage!  Busy, busy!

Here is my first Halloween card of the season, but I think I'll have a few more later this week since I won the Fang-tastic stamp set at Regionals last week. 

This card uses:

• Spider Web Textured Impresions Embossing Folder (Available in the Current Holiday Mini)

The card itself is very simple, but with high impact.  I embossed the card front using the embossing folder making sure the raised parts were on the front.  I brushed the ink across the raised edges.  I cut a piece of the Wicked Fun Specilty DSP and then distressed it by crunching it up and then unfolding.  I also rubbed some ink along the edges.  Last, I stamped the sentiment onto Pumpkin Pie and punched it out using the Modern Label Punch.  I also distressed my label and mounted it to the card front using dimensionals.

Harvest Thank You

This card is very similar to one that I previously posted on August 2.  I am preparing for an upcoming workshop and my hostess liked the original design but wanted a fall themed card.  So I made some changes and created the following card:

As before, I used So Many Thanks stamp, Very Vanilla card stock, Bitty Buttons and Linen thread.  To modify the design for fall, I used More Mustard as my card base and added Autumn Spice Designer Series paper and Pumpkin Pie 1/8" grosgrain ribbon replacing the original combination of Tempting Turquoise, Playdate Designer Series Paper and Daffodil Delight grosgrain ribbon. 

I continued the updated color scheme with Old Olive, Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Early Espresso Stampin' Write Markers for inking my stamp.

Same card, new look for fall.

Convention Cards- Paisley Prints

Here are two more Make and Takes from convention, both using images from the Paisley Prints and Paisley Party Stampin' Around wheel from the upcoming Holiday Mini.  This set and wheel will be available for purchase on September 1, 2010.  In addition to the images in these cards, there is also a small tree and a leaf in the set.  So this post also offers a bit of a preview of things to come!

The first card is the Paisley Prints Pumpkin Card.  You will need the following:

• Just Believe and Paisley Prints Stamp Set
• Paisley Party Stampin' Around Wheel
• Old Olive and Whisper White cardstock
• Early Espresso and Peach Parfait Classic Stampin' Pad
• VersaMark Pad
• Cajun Craze, Old Olive, and Peach Parfait Stampin' Write Marker
• Pumpkin Pie 5/8" grosgrain ribbon
• Linen thread
• Brights Designer Buttons
• Stampin' Dimensionals and SNAIL adhesive
• Stamp-a-ma-jig (optional, for placment/position of stamps)

I like this card because of it's simplicity.  The pumpkin stem/squigly leaf is stamped in the Old Olive onto the larger piece of Whisper White.  Then the pumpkin is colored in both the Peach Parfait and Cajun Craze, the main stem in Old Olive and stamped on a separate piece of paper.  It is then cut out and mounted on top of the stem which was previously stamped using Stampin Dimensionals.  This is a very fun way to add layers to your cards.  The wheel is added to the card front using the VersaPad.  Once the Whisper White is layered onto the card front and the sentiment is added, the card is finished by embellishing with ribbon, button, and linen thread.  The ribbon is ruffled using glue dots when folding it back and forth.  Another fun look that is easy to create once you get the hang of it.  It is also something that looks better when it is not perfect.

The second card featuring the Paisley Prints stamp set is the Paisley Prints Heart Card.  For this card, you will need:

• So Many Thanks single stamp and Paisley Prints Stamp Set
• Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink, Soft Suede, Whisper White and Peach Parfait card stock
• Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin' Pad
• VersaMark Pad
• Early Espresso and Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker
• Linen Thread
• Pearl Basic Jewels
• Stampin' Dimensionals
• Mini Glue Dots
• SNAIL Adhesive
• Mat Pack
• Paper Piercing Tool
• Full Heart Punch
• Jewelry Tag Punch
• Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack

Stamp the small heart image in VersaMark three times on the Soft Suede card.  Pierce a row of holes in the peach parfait cardstock strip using the paper piercing tool and Mat Pack.  Adhere the Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait onto the card.

Stamp the large heart onto the Pretty in Pink.  You could use VersaMark for this step or substitue Blushing Bride.  I did this because someone else at my table was using the VersaMark and I happened to have my Blushing Bride in my bag.  It creates a similar tone on tone effect like the VersaMark, just with a little darker.  Punch out the heart using the heart punch. 

Punch the flower from Pretty in Pink using the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack and adhere a pearl to the flower.  Curl the edges of the flower and adhere to the Pretty in Pink heart using mini glue dots.  Adhere to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the little thank you tag on this card, you'll need to ink the small thank on the So Many Thanks single stamp using Early Espresso and then stamp on some scrap Whisper White card stock.  Punch using the Jewelry Tag Punch. 

Tie a small bow in the linen thread and adhere to the tag.  Add the tag to the card using Mini Glue dots.
